MAKE AMERICA

CRITICAL FACT 1

The number of Americans who’ve died from fentanyl is now comparable to the total U.S. casualties in World War II.

CRITICAL FACT 2

Better education regarding the fatal potency of fentanyl is already leading to a reduction in deaths.

CRITICAL FACT 3

Strengthened border security measures are also helping reduce fentanyl-related fatalities.

GOALS OF PRESIDENT TRUMP'S

FENTANYL EDUCATION PLAN

Inform every American about the devastating effects of fentanyl – ingesting as little of three grains of fentanyl can be lethal within minutes.

Reduce the number of Americans killed by fentanyl.

Educate the public about the hidden danger: fentanyl is frequently disguised in other substances, such as cocaine and marijuana.

Send a strong, unequivocal message to Mexican drug cartels
that actions leading to American deaths or harm will result in serious consequences.

WHAT WE'VE LEARNED THROUGH OUR RESEARCH

1

Limited Public Awareness

A majority of Americans are not fully aware of the true scale and severity of the nation’s fentanyl crisis.

2

Misconceptions About Who is Affected

A common misconception is that fentanyl addiction is confined to the fringes of society. In reality, it poses a serious threat to all communities—regardless of socioeconomic status—and can easily impact any household or neighborhood.

3

Lethal Potency

Most Americans do not realize that fentanyl is 100 times more potent than morphine. Just a few grains are enough to cause a fatal overdose.

4

Widespread Contamination and Accelerated Addiction

Many people do not realize that fentanyl is increasingly found in a wide range of drugs—including counterfeit painkiller pills, marijuana, and cocaine—where it is used to intensify addictive effects. Addiction can occur rapidly, is difficult to overcome without professional intervention, and often leads to serious and painful health consequences.

Alarmingly, younger recreational drug users report that they only became aware of fentanyl’s extreme toxicity and prevalence after experiencing the tragic loss of a friend or peer.
